AWS Certified!

Hello,

I was finally able to clear the AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate level certification exam. 🙂

The pursuit of this exam started waaaay back in April, 2017. This was when I had purchased the AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate 2017 course on Udemy. I wish had concentrated more on this from the get go but here we are, 3 years later, when I finally achieved the certification!

The following are some resources that helped me in this:

The first two are excellent resources for preparing for the exam. The third link offers 5 practice tests to test the knowledge / readiness 🙂

My preparation started with completing the first two courses mentioned above (the first one from ACloudGuru and the second one from Stephane Maarek). Once I completed these, I started taking the tests from Jon Bonso. This helped get some insights on any topics that might have gotten missed from the above courses. I noted down the topics I didn’t know about and googled about the same later on. Also, the AWS FAQs helped a lot on this front since they clearly explain what each service is, what they do, how the pricing works, etc.

Had booked the online exam from Pearson Vue for this. On the exam day, logged into their exam portal 15 minutes before the scheduled exam time and was able to launch their exam tool. We get a link on the phone to upload photos of the workspace and a government issued Id card. Once things are good, the exam starts. During the entire process of the exam, we are going to be monitored via the laptop’s webcam. We are not supposed to look away from the screen or speak. The entire process of us taking the exam shall be recorded.

The exam tool has an option to mark some questions for a later review (so that we can come back to the questions later on). Most questions are scenario based. They start off presenting a scenario where you are a solutions architect who has to come up with a way to achieve some thing in the most economical manner or in the most efficient way or with high availability / disaster recovery in mind. Had flagged a few questions for review and revisited them at the end of the exam.

Once done, I ended the exam and this brought up a short survey. Post the survey, it was announced on the screen that I had passed! Happy happy happy! I think the online proctor would have probably seen me whoop in joy (if he was still connected).

After a few hours, the certificate was ready 🙂 Also, we get a badge to post on our resume / LinkedIn profile, etc.

Here is my marks sheet (the score is for an overall total of 1000):

Here is the certificate itself:

This is the badge:

Hoping to achieve more AWS certifications in the future! 🙂

Thanks!
